Efosa Ojomo, MBA
Originally from Nigeria, Efosa came to the U.S. in 2000 to attend university and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2005 with a degree in Computer Engineering. He later attended Harvard Business School where he earned a Masters in Business Administration. He is the founder of the non-profit organization, Poverty Stops Here.
Solomon Mugisha Ondoma, MD
is a Neurosurgeon at Mercy One Hospital in Mason city, Iowa. Born and raised in Uganda, he attended Mbarara University of Science and Technology for his medical degree. Upon completion of his internship, he worked at CURE Hospital for Children in Mbale Uganda. In 2008 he moved to the University of Wisconsin in Madison, USA to take a research associate position in the department of Neurosurgery. He then completed his residency training in neurosurgey in 2018. He is married to his university sweetheart Dr. Cissy Nakyajja Ondoma, who holds a PHD in Nursing. They are blessed with three children.
Anne Dougherty, MD
Anne Dougherty, M.D. is the Dean’s Gender Equity Liaison, director of the Global Women’s Health Program and an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. Dr. Dougherty graduated from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine and completed a residency in OBGYN at the University of Vermont Medical Center. When not in the operating room performing minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, the focus of her work is in medical education, mentorship and advocacy, particularly around issues of gender equity. Since 2013, she has moved between her home base at the University of Vermont and East Africa, working with Ugandan and Tanzanian partners to participate in research and capacity building projects and design ethical and equitable global health programs for trainees and faculty on both sides. Additionally, Dr. Dougherty is a sought-after mentor for both medical students and residents whether on the topic of global health, career development or medical education.
Namayanja Alex Mpiima
Alex is a member of the Mothers Union in Gayaza, Wampeewo (one of the many communities in Uganda where ASSET works) and a leader among women in her community.
For over 10-years, Alex has served as the key liaison between ASSET at the different universities and institutes of higher learning with which the organization partners in order to deliver on its mission of improving access to higher education for young Ugandan women.
Alex has expertise in accounting and sales and is crucial for ASSET’s work in managing key strategic relationships in Uganda.
Christopher Lukolyo, MBA
Chris serves as the CEO of ASSET. He has over 15 years of experience in international development and gender programming. His experience in levering digital technologies to address the needs of underserved communities allows him to properly drive ASSET’s mission to close the gender digital divide across Africa. He brings with him a wealth of technical expertise from working on the ground in the countries where ASSET now does its work. Chris has served in senior roles with a variety of international development organizations including USAID, Gates Foundation, several UN agencies, and the World Bank. Chris is based in Washington DC.
